Honoring the Legacy of Philip "Tony" Malone

The Boys & Girls Club Family Center honors the life and legacy of Philip “Tony” Malone, a beloved mentor, leader, and community icon whose impact spanned more than four decades. Tony’s journey began as a Club kid in the 1970s and grew into a lifelong commitment to the Family Center—as a counselor, coach, Activities Director, and ultimately Program Director. Through his leadership and his deep involvement in youth basketball across the city of Springfield, Tony helped shape the lives of thousands of young people with care, discipline, and undeniable belief in their potential.

Tony’s legacy lives on in the generations of youth he mentored and the community he helped strengthen. In remembrance of his life and service, the Boys & Girls Club Family Center hosted a public memorial on April 16, 2022, bringing together family, friends, and community members to celebrate a man whose presence and purpose will forever be part of the Family Center’s story.
